A Notary Public is an individual who has been appointed and commissioned by their Secretary of State (Ashley is commissioned by the State of Colorado) to perform a notarial act.
A Notary Public can exercise the “power” of acknowledgments, the administration of oaths and affirmations, copy certifications**, and witness to signatures.
**RULONA specifies specific types of documents cannot be copy certified by the following Colorado offices: clerk & recorder of public documents, the Secretary of State, the state archives, or an office of vital records.
**A notary is also prohibited from providing copy certifications for documents that state on the document that it is illegal to make copies. So please check your documents.
A notary is the first defense to fraud!

Absolutely. No question.
This prevents any and all fraud. SECO Notary Co. intends to follow the law in each and every notarial act and will reject any notarial act that appears to be possible fraud. The mentioned individual must appear in person (including remotely) and their name on their ID must match exactly as it states in the document, along with their picture and signature.
-
SECO Notary Co. intends to follow each letter of the law to the fullest in each and every notarial act. This ensures our clients that the job is done correctly and legally. When a document needs a notary stamp, it is never something “minor”. If it is not done correctly, it could have a domino effect of issues, and never for the better.
With that being said, SECO Notary Co. has the authority to deny (and refund) any notarial acts for the following reasons:
Identification failure
If the client appears to be under duress, is confused, or may be under the influence
If the client is unsure what document they will be signing
If SECO Notary Co. suspects fraud or abuse (elder abuse or financial exploitation)
SECO Notary Co. cannot and will not reject a notarization for any discriminatory reason (race, ethnicity, religion, class, etc.,). We are all God’s children, and we will respect you as such!
Any and all notarizations, including rejections, will be documented in the journal with reasons stating why.
-
Yes! Each notarial act, no matter in person or mobile, by law, is to be entered (by hand or electronically) into a “Journal” and by law, is to be kept for a minimum of 10 years.
A journal is used for the notary’s defense if a notarial act is to come into question in court or by the Secretary of State.
-
Yes.
Before the notarization takes place, SECO Notary Co. will confirm that you are comfortable with being recorded, both audio and video, and that the recording will be saved for 10 years by law.
If you agree, great!
If you don’t, that is ok as well! We can schedule a mobile notary appointment, or you are more than able to find a different notary!
-

No.
SECO Notary Co. is commissioned in the State of Colorado only and can only perform notarizations with the notary public in the state of Colorado. We can notarize documents for other states and for clients who do not live in the state. Our notary stamp is legal nationwide.
RON (remote online notary) can be done anywhere in the United States as long as the notary is physically located in the State of Colorado.
The law applies for Mobile Notary Appointments as well, though the client must be in the state of Colorado as well since the client must be in person, in real time, to complete a notarial act legally and safely.
Any appointment will be denied if the client chooses not to appear before SECO Notary Co. either remotely or in person via mobile.
-
For a mobile notary, it is $15 per document. If the appointment is 30+ miles from Ordway, Colorado, a $10 travel charge will be applied to the balance for the appointment.
The travel charge MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE in case of appointment denial or cancelation.
For RON (remote online notarization) through BlueNotary, fees are as follows:
25$ will be charged for session (with 1 seal)
